Heat flowed through the air, touching the ground. The basement was always hot. The fernus was down there. Even though it had stopped working years ago, somehow it still projected heat. But that is why the queens chose it. So that their pups would never be cold. So they could leave them to go find food. Knowing the other quuens would protect theme
The queens trusted each other. They knew nothing would happen to their pups if they left. The queens stuck together. No matter what. Until now. The lack of food in the city was driving the queens apart. Driving every dog apart. They would kill for food. Even a small morsel smaller than their paw. Anything would keep you alive. It was nessesary to survive now. Killing.
Some dogs just hoped everything would get better. Some stayed hiding. Hoping things would clear up. But it never would. The humans were gone. They were the only source of food the dogs had. And now they were all dead. Not every coming back. And soon, the dogs would be gone to. Unless they stop fighting amungst themselves, and try to survive. Try to help each other. That is the only way they can survive.
Chasm hoped they would all learn to get along again. She wants her pups to grow up in a nice enviroment. She wants them to grow up strong and kind. But with everything going on now. She didn't think that would happen. She just wishes the dogs would get over themselves and learn to get along. For the next generation of dogs. The ones that would keep their species going. But if they keep killing each other, they would die out sooner.
A sharp pain shot through Chasm's stomach. Cutting off her thoughts. The pain ripped through her stomach and cause her to screech. She muffled the screeched with her tail. Not wanting to wake up the other queens. That would be bad. She stood up, legs wobbly, and padded up the stairs. Almost falling. She had to get to the park. There she could have her pups. Away from all of the other dogs. She would raise her pups away from everyone else. Hoping to get away from the madness. On the way to the park, her mind was taken over by the pain. She fell every now and then. This was her first litter, and no one warned her about the pain. Why did that brute have to do that to her? It's not her fault she hadn't gotten a mate yet. Her didn't have to force her to mate. He should have left her alone. She should have ran. Now every other dog thinks she is a slut, just because she didn't know who the father of the pups were. She just needed a nice male dog to take care of her. And help her take care of the pups.
But at the moment, all her thoughts drifted to the pain, and where she would have the pups. Maybe in the bushes by the old oak... Chasm thought. It would be safe, considering the oak is on one side, and a giant rock is on the other side. And a smaller tree is behind it. So it has good protection. It would be ideal. Knowing this, Chasm made her way to the bush. Collapsing inside, and started streeching. The pain unbarable.
Two hours later, Chasm looked at her 5 bundles. Three girls and two boys. They all looked like her. Thank Heavens She thought. She wouldn't be able to handle it, if they looked like their father. With his nasty matted black fur. She felt better, having gotten through the pain, and now she had five healthy pups. Not one sick, or small. She had scaveneged for enough food to keep them healthy. Although she was quite skinny. But she had enough milk. And that was all that matter right now. That she had enough food to feed her pups.
A loud snap sounded near by. Making Chasm jump. It was a twig. Which means another dog was nearby. Chasm snarled. She curled her tail around her pups and snarled again. This time it sounded threating. The dog may not even be hostile. But she didn't want to take any chances. Her pups were to young to be moved, and to young to be taken away from her. So she would not let another dog hurt her, or her pups. A growl sounded in her throat when a muzzle sniffed at the entrance of her den. "Get away!" She threatened the dog.

Flint was sleeping in the entrance of the basement. He was told to keep it guard while some of the queens went out. He was glad to be doing something, but it was a boring job and after a few moments he closed his eyes. Making sure he would wake up at the slightest sound he moved his tail. It was loud in his mind, but too loud to be his tail. He opened one of his eyes and saw Chasm stumbling out of the basement. He wondered where she was going and yawned with his mouth really wide and letting out a soft whine. She didn't notice so he got up and sneakily followed her.
She stopped at an old Oak that was surrounded by bushes, rocks, and another tree nearby. Maybe she's giving birth! He thought to himself. As she entered the den he waited. It was a long time and he managed to fall asleep again, and woke up to the sound of puppies being born. He could smell them but the smell didn't seem at all familiar, they smelt. . . foreign. He stuck his nose in the entrance to get a better smell and was greeted by a growl, "Get away!" She exclaimed.
"Cool! New puppies! How many are there? Can they be my friend? I was guarding you! I was waiting here the whole time." He said quickly and proudly. He stuck the rest of his head in and saw five little puppies and Chasm encircling them. "Wow. Five? They're so much smaller than me!" He said. He had never seen newly born puppies because he would only be able to see them when they left the basement, which he was forbidden to go in.

Chasm growled again. She knew the dog was no harm, but he was slightly annoying. She tried calming herself down by licking her pups. Four of them were nursing, while the fiftth was wandering around. Chasm picked him up by the scruff and moved him closer to her milk. He was the runt, although he wasn't small, but he was the smallest. After awhile the male dog seemed sweet to her. The pain had faded and now she wasn't irritated.
She looked at the eager dog and smiled. Her pups would be like that one day. She was glad that some dogs were nice. "Would you like to know their names?" She asked. He seemed nice enough. So she would be nice. She wanted her pups to feel relaxed, but if she was uneasy that is how they would feel, so she calmed herself. And smiled at the brute. She knew he wouldn't harm her pups. He didn't look old enough to harm anything.
Sorry about the small reply, i'm tired.
